Kenya Power had by 7:50 a.m., restored power supply to all parts of the country following the partial national blackout that occurred at 3:39 a.m. West Kenya and North Rift Regions were not affected by the blackout as they were on supply from Turkwel, Sondu and Sang’oro power stations and from Uganda.

Kenya Power unionisable employees will receive a total of 12% pay increase per annum for the next two years following a collective bargaining agreement (CBA)signed today with the Kenya Electrical Trades and Allied Workers’ Union (KETAWU) in the Company’s headquarters at Stima Plaza.
Kenya Power has entered into an agreement to sell 30MW of power to Rwanda. Kenya Power, Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Ltd (UETCL) and Rwanda Energy Group Limited (REG) have completed negotiations to facilitate the trade.

The country’s electricity consumers is rapidly growing with the total expected to hit three million by next month, Kenya Power Managing Director and CEO, Dr Ben Chumo has said.
Coast Region will be the biggest beneficiary from the 36 new substations to be constructed in various parts of the country beginning this year as part a project to modernise the electricity system.

National electricity distributor, Kenya Power, has contracted a USD190 million (Shs.17 billion) long-term loan from the Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) to implement infrastructural development projects.

Electricity supply in Elgeyo-Marakwet County is set to improve following plans to commission a new high voltage power line in November this year which is expected to cost the Company Shs.135 million.

Electricity customers in Mombasa will enjoy improved delivery of services from Kenya Power following two days of intensified reinforcing of the power distribution network. The work was carried out yesterday and today under the Boresha Umeme programme which the Company has undertaken in several parts of the country.
