Stima Loan to help 300,000 connect to electricity

Kenya Power will receive Shs.3.6 billion (30 million Euros) from the French Development Agency (AFD) and the European Union (EU) to connect approximately 300,000 electricity customers through Stima Loan arrangement in the next four years.

Kenya Power has generated a total of Shs.1billion from its fibre optic business in the last four years, the Company’s Chief Manager for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Eng. Samuel Ndirangu, has revealed.
Kenya Power improves supply to Machakos County

Kenya Power has spent Shs.123 million to improve the quality of electricity supply to Machakos town, and Shs.14 million on a 33 kilometer street lighting system on the Kithimani-Makutano ma Mwala Road, currently under construction by the Machakos County Government.
Transmission towers vandalised

Two electricity transmission towers on a high voltage line emanating from Kamburu hydropower station collapsed today after vandals stole support bracings at Brookside area in Ruiru, Nairobi.
Mombasa North power infrastructure upgraded

Electricity supply infrastructure in Nyali, Kisauni, Kongowea, Bamburi, Mtopanga and surrounding areas in Mombasa North got a shot in the arm today when hundreds of Kenya Power workers descended on the network to upgrade power lines, transformers and substations to reduce the occurrence of blackouts and also improve quality of supply.
Power restored following major outage
Electricity to all parts of the country has been restored following a system breakdown emanating from the Coast Region that caused a major power outage affecting many parts of Nairobi, Mount Kenya and Coast Regions.
